Davis Islands is inside the City of Tampa, so removing a tree 5 inches or more across needs a city permit and Grand Trees of 32 inches or more need public notice. Most Davis Islands jobs are palm trimming, storm cleanup on waterfront lots and careful removals near seawalls, pools and docks.
Island living, island trees
Davis Islands was built in the 1920s on land raised from the bay, and its streets mix older homes with newer waterfront houses. Salt wind, seawalls and docks shape the tree work, and lots are close together.
The neighborhood sits right across the channel from downtown, a short drive from our Tampa service office.
Lots on the islands are compact and many back onto seawalls, so equipment access is planned before the crew arrives. Bucket trucks work from the street where possible, and climbers take over where they cannot reach.
Salt, storms and seawalls
Palms dominate many Davis Islands yards and need cleaning before hurricane season with the green crown left full. Oaks near the water lean toward the light and benefit from weight reduction.
After storms, the work shifts to clearing fronds, limbs and fallen trees from yards, pools and seawalls, with wood kept out of the water.

City of Tampa rules on Davis Islands
Davis Islands is inside the City of Tampa, so a permit is required to remove any tree 5 inches DBH or larger except listed invasive species, pruning needs a permit once a tree reaches 24 inches, and Grand Trees of 32 inches or more need public notice before removal. Street trees in the right-of-way need Parks Forestry permission. We file the permit before work begins.
